Like k9 mail, password store or conversations. This would also allow better management of keys when many apps are used together with the same key, for example OpenKeyChain allows remembering key password for a specified amount of time and currently pep android is completely unusable with an imported key.

    Hey Praveen,
the idea of pEp is that there is no key management needed anymore, which works well if the surrounding factors (e.g. no password) are set. We are working on the issue that the PW will be stored a bit longer, but thats a bigger issue than it seems from the outside perspective - I guess that is what you mean with "unusable with an imported key" == if the key has a password, then its getting unusable as the PW will be asked too often, right?

I think from PEP perspective, it makes sense for the app to manage the keys. But as a user, I'd like all apps use the keys I already have. If the key import works, then it is somewhat ok, but still using the system's key manager is the ideal way. You could check if Open Key Chain is installed and show this option only in such cases or just give this as a configurable option. The problem is that, it does not ask for the password after 10 minutes and it is currently completely unusable and I uninstalled the app. I still have the pep for thunderbird kept as a fallback just to share the key with other pep users (for initial hand shake).
